Condition

Elbow Pain Physical Therapy in Huntsville, TX

Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow are tendon problems, and tendons do not recover from rest — they recover from graded load. Most people arrive having tried a brace, a break from activity, and an anti-inflammatory, with the pain returning as soon as they resume. The work is rebuilding the tendon’s capacity to grip, lift, and twist, while dealing with the shoulder and wrist demands that overloaded it.

Treated in Huntsville, TX

Evaluation and treatment at 3200 Robinson Creek Parkway, Suite B. Most patients start without a referral.

Symptoms

Symptoms we see

  • Pain on the outside of the elbow when gripping or lifting
  • Pain on the inside of the elbow when gripping or throwing
  • Weak grip — dropping a coffee cup or struggling with a jar
  • Pain shaking hands or turning a doorknob
  • Aching after a day of tools, keyboard, or repetitive work
  • Symptoms that settle with rest and return immediately on resuming

Treatment

How we treat elbow pain

Tendon pain responds to load applied at the right dose. Too little achieves nothing; too much flares it. Getting that dose right, and progressing it, is most of the treatment.

  1. 01

    Confirm it is the tendon

Elbow pain can also be referred from the neck or involve a nerve. Those need different treatment, so they are ruled out first.

  2. 02

    Load progressively

A structured grip and wrist loading programme, dosed to your current tolerance and advanced deliberately.

  3. 03

    Address what overloaded it

Shoulder strength, wrist mechanics, grip technique, and tool or workstation setup.

  4. 04

    Return to demand

Graded return to work tasks, lifting, racquet sport, or throwing.

What improves

What treatment changes

Specific, testable outcomes — not a promise that pain disappears on a schedule.

A loading programme rather than another brace

Grip strength rebuilt so daily tasks stop hurting

Technique and tool setup adjusted to stop the re-injury cycle

Screening for nerve or neck involvement

Realistic timelines — tendons are slow, and knowing that helps

A programme you can continue independently

Questions

Elbow Pain — common questions

Tendons remodel slowly. Meaningful improvement over six to twelve weeks of consistent loading is typical, with stubborn cases taking longer. The trade-off is durability: loading addresses the capacity problem, which is why results tend to hold better than with rest alone.

A strap can reduce pain enough to keep working, and it is reasonable short-term. It does not rebuild the tendon, though, so it works best alongside a loading programme rather than instead of one.

Most people with it do not. The name is historical. It far more commonly comes from work: tools, repetitive gripping, keyboard and mouse use, or a sudden increase in lifting.
